(Sacramento, CA) – On Monday, February 7, the California State Assembly voted to approve important early budget items, including those that would allocate additional pandemic testing resources, bring economic relief to small businesses, and extend COVID-19 sick leave for workers (SB 113, SB 114, SB 115, SB 116 and SB 117). Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) was proud to vote on these urgent pandemic-related action items and has released the following statement:
“Our communities, small businesses, and workers require more support as we continue to combat the ongoing pandemic. The California State Assembly voted to take early budget action on several urgent pandemic-related measures that would open up more testing resources, bring vital economic relief to small businesses, and extend COVID-19 sick leave that had expired. These actions are necessary to keep residents safe and our communities running, but there is still much more work ahead of us to protect the health and wellbeing of our region.”
