(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) is concerned about the deterioration of the Salton Sea and the impact that’s having on the people who live in the region. “Water transfers, scheduled in 2017, will increase the rate at which the sea declines,” said Assemblymember Garcia. “Approximately 400,000 people in the Coachella and Imperial Valleys will be harmed by the estimated 33% increase in the amount of fine windblown dust from exposed playa at the sea”. That’s why Asssemblymember Garcia wrote Assembly Bill 1095. AB 1095 requires the Natural Resources Agency to report to the legislature by March 31, 2016 on eligible shovel ready Salton Sea restoration projects. Learn more in this Assembly Web Report.
