(Sacramento) - Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) and his co-authors, Assemblymembers Anna Caballero (D-Salinas) and Devon Mathis (R-Visalia) and Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) have proposed legislation to address critical labor shortages facing our state’s vital agricultural and service industries. AB 1885, California Resident Worker Program and Economic Stabilization Act (E. Garcia/2018) would organize a working group in order to establish a model for the implementation of a resident worker permit program. “We can no longer afford to wait on Washington,” emphasized Assemblymember Garcia. “This labor shortage has become an economic urgency.” Learn more in this Assembly Access video.
