Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia invites local seniors to a “Senior Scam Stoppers” event being held Tomorrow, April 15th at the Eleanor Shadowen Senior Center in Coachella. Representatives from different state and county agencies, along with local law enforcement, will share useful information to teach people how to spot scams related to home repair, telemarketing, unclaimed property, identity theft, mortgages and more.

“We keep hearing in the news about local seniors being taken advantage of by scam artists trying to steal credit card information or gain access to other important personal information,” said Garcia. “This event is aimed at teaching seniors how to recognize and avoid scams.”

Representatives from the Contractors State Licensing Board (CSLB), the state Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP), Riverside County District Attorney, local law enforcement and others.

It is not necessary to RSVP, but those with questions are encouraged to contact the Assemblyman’s District office at 760-347-2360.
