Garcia Takes Oath as Newest Assemblymember for 56th Assembly District

Will promote investments in education, safety and jobs

(SACRAMENTO) – Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) was sworn in as the Assemblymember for California’s 56th Assembly District today. The ceremony was held in the Assembly Chamber of the State Capitol.

“I am proud to serve residents of California’s 56th Assembly District,” said Assemblymember Garcia. “I’ve lived in the Coachella Valley all my life and I am dedicated to improving the region’s public safety, schools and job opportunities. I look forward to working with community members to find solutions to the region’s most pressing issues.”

The 56th Assembly District 56 includes a number of cities and unincorporated communities in eastern Riverside County and Imperial County, including Blythe, Brawley, Bermuda Dunes, Calexico, Calipatria, Cathedral City, Coachella, Desert Hot Springs, El Centro, Holtville, Imperial, Indio, Mecca, Oasis, North Shore, Salton Sea, Thermal, Thousand Palms, and Westmorland.

The oath of office was administered by California Supreme Court Associate Justice Goodwin Liu.
