UC Riverside’s Farooq appointed to Council of Economic Advisors for California

"I congratulate California State Controller Betty Yee on the quality of the individuals she has appointed to her Council of Economic Advisors. Having Imran Angelov Farooq , Director of UC Riverside's Center for Economic Development & Innovation on the new Economic Council ensures that she will hear viewpoints from a broad geographic perspective. Inland California and Riverside County are important economic players within the state economy. I am glad that our work in the Coachella Valley including the i-hub will be recognized," stated Assemblymember Garcia.

The nine-member council includes experts from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives including academics, business, economics, and government. The group's core objective is to review and comment on the potential impacts of various tax reform proposals. Working with data from the California Board of Equalization, California Franchise Tax Board, and State Controller's Office, the council will assess the workability of proposals including practical effects, unintended consequences, and prospective alternatives.
