Today the California State Assembly swore in Anthony Rendon as 70th Assembly Speaker
(SACRAMENTO) – Today, Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia joined his colleagues in swearing in Anthony Rendon as the 70th Speaker of the State Assembly.
“Congratulations to Assemblymember Anthony Rendon, in becoming the 70th Assembly Speaker ” commented Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella). “He has shown an interest in our District by touring the Salton Sea and renewable energy sites to get a better understanding of the environmental and economic challenges we face. His district has similar problems as ours but in a more urban setting which will provide an opportunity to collaborate on budget and legislative policies.” he concluded.
The Speaker presides over the California Assembly and serves as the link between the Assembly, other major state leaders, and the federal administration in Washington. The Speaker shares the duties and responsibilities of all Assembly Members and has committed to a diverse agenda that will address issues such as poverty and water.
