Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia Coauthors HR 51; Response to Charlottesville Violence
(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Today, Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) joined as coauthor to HR 51 and has released the following statement:
“It is an honor to join my California State Assembly colleagues from both sides of the aisle, as coauthor to HR 51 which proudly celebrates California’s diversity and equality while condemning the atrocious acts that transpired in Charlottesville, Virginia.”
“United against the tyranny of hate and aggression, this measure sends a clear message that discrimination and violence in any form is intolerable and our state refuses to abide by this blatant spread of bigotry.”
“While the abhorrent actions of the ‘Unite the Right’ have wounded our Nation to the very core we must stand strong and not allow this threat to setback our history of tolerance and progress. We must remember that our great country was built as a safe haven for those escaping persecution for their differences, whether of color, nationality or creed.”
“California glories in its diversity; it is and has always been our identity and great strength. Our Golden State will continue to persist with love and acceptance for all, a necessary light in the face of this darkness.”
