(El Centro, CA) – This morning, Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella), the Imperial County Probation Department, and Rite Track Youth Services celebrated an $830,006 California Youth Reinvestment Grant. Assemblymember Garcia has been a strong advocate to increase investments in this grant program designed to expand youth diversion and alternative-sanction programs, academic- and vocational-education services, mentoring, as well as behavioral health services across our state.
“We highly commend Imperial County’s strides to improve our local juvenile justice system by creating community partnerships to implement cultural healing and mentorship programing to uplift our youth,” said Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia. “As Chair of the Assembly Select Committee on the Status of Boys and Men of Color, we have committed to exploring the root causes of these systemic injustices and are pushing for further investments to expand these resources in underserved communities like ours.”
Applications for the next round of grant funding are currently being accepted until the Friday, February 14, 2020, deadline. Additional information on the program and how to apply for funding can be found at: http://www.bscc.ca.gov/s_youthreinvestmentgrant/
