$3,000 Awarded for Imperial Valley Pandemic Relief Projects
(IMPERIAL, CA) – Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) and AT&T California proudly announce the American Legion Auxiliary, Bradley-Keffer Unit 138; Imperial County 4-H; and MANA de Imperial Valley as “Investing in California” award winners. These three local organizations will each receive $1,000 grants from AT&T to support their pandemic relief efforts.
“We are grateful for AT&T’s generosity towards our Imperial Valley community. In light of recent events, we identified organizations leading pandemic relief projects. Our Bradley-Keffer American Legion Auxiliary, Imperial County 4-H, and MANA de Imperial Valley exemplify public service, and they quickly expanded their missions to provide pandemic response. We congratulate them and proudly support their efforts to aid at-risk populations and distribute face masks to essential workers such as first responders, and farmworkers,” stated Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia.
The AT&T Investing in California Awards program provides contributions to organizations that improve lives in their communities by advancing education, economic growth, new technologies and essential community services. Over the last few years, Assemblymember Garcia has partnered with AT&T to highlight well-deserving charitable organizations and initiatives in his district.
“The American Legion Auxiliary, Bradley Keffer Unit 138, is thankful to Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia and AT&T for awarding us a $1,000 grant. This money will come in handy in the completion of our project COVID-19, of making over 1,000 face masks destined for the Emergency Operation Center in El Centro,” said American Legion Auxiliary, Bradley-Keffer Unit 138 President, Karen Gibbs.
MANA de Imperial Valley President, Martha Singh, also expressed her gratitude, “MANA de Imperial Valley truly appreciates Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia for nominating our organization to be a part of AT&T’s Investing in California Awards for 2020. Our organization seeks solutions and support to benefit our vulnerable community members impacted by COVID-19. The awarded funding will be used to assist homeless shelters for women and their children with supplies such as sewing kits to make face masks, hand sanitizers, and cleaning supplies to maintain the recommended health guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Farmworkers will be provided with COVID-19 literature, face masks, and information on local testing sites. We will participate and assist local nonprofit organizations that provide COVID -19 patients, who are isolated and recovering at home with meals and/or grocery boxes. MANA de Imperial Valley recognizes our partnership with Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia and AT&T has influenced a collective effort to assist our vulnerable populations.”
