Suits Distributed to Support Imperial Valley Young Adults
(Imperial, CA) – On Saturday, November 4, Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) held a Dress for Success Suit Drive and Workshop at Imperial Valley College to help prepare young adults for professional and higher education opportunities.
“Too often, a lack of professional attire stands as a barrier to educational and career opportunities,” said Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia. “For many growing up in hard-working families, like mine, owning a suit can be daunting and unattainable. Providing suits and professional attire to local youth and young men will help instill confidence and set them on the path to success.”
The Assemblymember’s offices had been collecting donations of new and gently used suits and professional accessories over the past few months to support local youth and young men. During the event, suits were distributed to individuals pre-identified by partners, based on need, and scheduled for fittings. Various workshops, such as job interview tips, were also provided to suit recipients.
Event partners include Imperial Valley College, Imperial Valley Regional Occupational Program, Brawley Feed the Need, IBEW 569, and Calipatria Council Member Michel Luellen.
