Moving Forward on Salton Sea Restoration

(Sacramento) – Two pieces of legislation, co-authored by Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella), are bringing California closer to the desperately needed restoration of the Salton Sea. One of the bills requires the Natural Resources Agency develop a 10-year plan to implement the Salton Sea restoration project. The other measure puts the Salton Sea Obligations Act of 2018 before the voters and, if approved, would authorize the sale of $500-million in general obligation bonds to get the process underway. Assemblymember Garcia says people in the Salton Sea region are suffering and the restoration must begin as soon as possible. Learn more in this Assembly Access video.
