State Assembly Declares August Opportunity Youth Reengagement Month

(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) authored Assembly Concurrent Resolution 102 (ACR 102) to raise awareness about the needs of Opportunity Youth. Opportunity youth are defined as individuals who have not yet attained their high school diploma that now struggle with the barriers of returning to school to finish their education. Assemblymember Garcia says ACR 102 is meant to encourage the expansion of schools and services to reengage opportunity youth by developing recommendations for a statewide student reengagement strategy, identifying the cost of the strategy compared to the cost of inaction and promoting active engagement and outreach strategies.
