This historic investment package reflects the agreement between the Legislature and the Governor’s Administration to expand California’s broadband fiber infrastructure and increase internet connectivity for families and businesses.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – On Monday, July 12, Governor Newsom signed SB 129 finalizing several key budget investments and approving Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia’s (D-Coachella) request for an additional $3 million for the Palo Verde College Child Development Center relocation and expansion. Assemblymember Garcia joined the college and other partners to break ground on the new facility in May, which was supported by $1 million Garcia had previously obtained in the 2019 California budget.

This action officially secures the $30 million Garcia requested for the safe relocation of Oasis Mobile Home Park residents and $7 million to support a critical Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) water infrastructure project along Avenue 66 in Mecca.

Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia Lauds Over $9 Million Sate Investment For Imperial Valley Housing Projects

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) is excited to announce that Imperial Valley has procured over $9 million of additional investments toward affordable housing. The California Department of Housing and Community Development has notified Garcia that projects in Calexico and Heber are among the latest to be awarded Joe Serna, Jr. Farmworker Housing Grant (FWHG) Program funding; the Calexico Remington project will receive $4,351,909, and the Heber Del Sol Family Apartments $4,894,682. The FWHG program provides grants or deferred-payment loans for the construction and rehabilitation of housing for agricultural workers and their families.
