Assembly member Eduardo Garcia and AT&T honored three Imperial Valley nonprofits: Brown Bag Coalition, House of Bread Ministries, and Share the Love Charities for their work providing for the homeless.

A grant through AT&T's "Investing in California" program awarded $1,000 to each nonprofit. AT&T approached assembly members, asking them to identify and nominate groups making an impact in the community for the grant, said AT&T Director of External Affairs for Riverside/San Bernardino Julio Figueroa.

AB 743 allows asthmatic children and families to breathe easier

AB 743 was signed into California law last week by Governor Gavin Newsom after months of advocacy by Comite Civico and community members.

AB 743 will allow asthma medication prescribed by Mexican doctors to be used in American schools. Before the bill was passed, the only medication allowed in schools had to be prescribed by American doctors; others were not allowed in school and had to be administered by a parent if necessary.
