Historic Climate Change Bills Signed into Law by Governor

(Los Angeles) – Today,  AB 197 by Assemblyman Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) and SB 32 by Senator Fran Pavley , which requires the state to cut emissions at least 40 percent below 1990 levels by 2030 and invest in the communities hardest hit by climate change  were signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown.

Bill with New River Funding Advances to Governor

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Due to Assemblyman Eduardo Garcia’s (D-Coachella) advocacy and Governor Jerry Brown’s support of Senate Bill 859, the New River will receive $1.4 million to complete phase I of cleanup and restoration.

California and U.S. Department of Interior Sign Salton Sea MOU

(SACRAMENTO) – California’s Natural Resources Agency and the Department of the Interior signed a memorandum of understanding that will formalize their partnership on the Salton Sea. As part of President Obama’s climate and conservation plan, this MOU will improve coordination between the state and federal governments to meet a series of objectives.

Legislation for Climate Equity and Transparency Clears Senate Floor

(SACRAMENTO) Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia’s (D-Coachella) is pleased to report AB 197 Climate Equity and Transparency Act passed the Senate on a Floor vote of 23-14. AB 197 brings about greater equity, transparency, and public accountability on future climate change policies.
