Governor Brown Signs Assemblymember Garcia's Coachella Valley Conservancy Bill

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Another piece of legislation from Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) was signed by Governor Brown today. The Coachella Valley Mountain Conservancy Bill (AB 1089) will expand the Coachella Valley Mountain Conservancy governing board and territory to include the Cities of Indio and Coachella.

Asm. Garcia’s Local Bills Head to Governor’s Desk

Assemblymember Garcia Presents Grant to Womanhaven, Center for Family Solutions

(EL CENTRO, CA.) – Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia was in El Centro on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 and presented an Emergency Solutions Grant from the California Department of Housing & Community Development to Womanhaven for rapid re-housing, homelessness prevention and emergency shelter efforts in the area. 

Updated Commuter Alert: I-10 DETOUR ROUTES/RUTAS DE DESVIO PARA LA AUTOPISTA-10

(RIVERSIDE, CA) -– The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is alerting motorists that Interstate 10 (I-10) is closed between Route 86 and the Arizona State Line July 19 after a severe storm caused a section of the interstate to collapse. I-10 eastbound collapsed and the westbound direction was severely undermined at Tex Wash (Adair Overcrossing), about 44 miles east of Route 86 (Coachella) and 42 miles west of the Arizona State Line.

Local Legislator’s Cal Grants Bill Passes Senate Education Committee

(SACRAMENTO, CA) ––The Senate Education Committee passed AB 1091 authored by Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella) today on a 9-0 vote. The bill will streamline California's financial aid process and increase Cal Grant and FAFSA application completion rates in California.

Governor Signs Garcia’s First Bill

(SACRAMENTO, CA.) – Governor Brown signed key workforce training legislation today, which was authored by local Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella). AB 1270 (Garcia and Hernández), makes the first round of changes to conform California workforce training laws with the new Federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.

Food Bank Legislation Clears Key Senate Committee

(SACRAMENTO, CA) –– The State Senate Committee on Finance and Governance passed Assembly Bill 515 relating to a food bank tax credit.  This bill would increase access to healthier foods to food banks and low-income Californians by offering California agricultural producers a 20 percent tax credit for the wholesale value of foods donated to local food banks.
